2014 Mini Cooper

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 2014 Cooper.

Body PASSENGER CARTransmission Automatic (S6)

The 2014 Mini Cooper is a passenger car equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission and an engine requiring 4.4 quarts of 5W-30 oil, delivering an EPA-estimated 28 city, 37 highway, and 31 combined mpg. With just four total owner complaints focused on the electrical system and a single recall, the vehicle demonstrates a relatively trouble-free profile. This positions the 2014 model firmly on the reliable end of the Cooper's 2001–2026 complaint history, meaning it stands in sharp contrast to the nameplate's 843-complaint peak in 2005 and sits near the record low of a single complaint set in 2024.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

The 2014 Mini Cooper is not included in the year-by-year federal record, so its complaint, recall, and TSB counts cannot be directly compared to surrounding model years. However, the available data for 2014 shows only four complaints in the top areas (Electrical System, Engine & Engine Cooling, Air Bags) and zero crash or fire complaints. This low complaint volume aligns with the downward trend seen from the 2005 peak of 843 complaints to 102 in 2010, and continuing to 55 in 2015. Recalls across the generation fluctuated, with 2015 having six, but no recall data exists for 2014. Without recall or TSB figures for 2014, the data does not specify whether it is more or less problematic than adjacent years. Given the very low complaint count and absence of safety-related complaints, the 2014 appears to be a relatively trouble-free year, but you should independently verify any outstanding recalls before purchasing.
