Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1979 Rabbit.
The 1979 Volkswagen Rabbit overview serves as the primary reference for this vehicle, though the available model complaint history specifically spans the 2006 to 2009 period. Within that documented window, reported complaints reached their lowest point in 2006 with 13 cases, before rising to a peak of 62 complaints in 2009. This data indicates that the Rabbit's reliability profile deteriorated toward the end of the documented production run, meaning the final model year in the dataset was the most problematic.
