Broken wires, cracked insulation, or corroded pins can create a high resistance path, resulting in a low signal.
Improper installation or a broken sensor housing can cause the sensor to read incorrectly or intermittently.
A problem inside the PCM’s sensor input driver can cause a low reading, but this is far less common than a sensor or wiring issue.
