C0603 indicates the active air dam (or active grille shutter) control circuit is reporting a voltage higher than the calibrated range. The module that commands the air dam actuator detects an open circuit, short to power, or internal driver fault on the high-side drive. The air dam will typically be disabled and default to a fixed position until the fault is corrected.

The high-side driver inside the body control module or dedicated aero module may have failed open, though this is less common than actuator or wiring faults.

5. Mechanical binding of the air dam linkage

Ice, debris, or physical damage preventing actuator movement can cause the position sensor to report an out-of-range high voltage.

  1. Scan for all codes and note any related active aero or communication codes.
  2. Visually inspect the air dam assembly, linkage, and wiring for damage, ice, or debris.
  3. Check connector integrity at the actuator and control module; repair any corrosion or spread terminals.
  4. Using a scan tool, command the air dam open and closed while monitoring actuator position PID; observe for no movement or erratic feedback.
  5. If no movement, measure resistance of the actuator motor windings and compare to specification; check for open circuit.
  6. If wiring and actuator test good, verify control module output with a lab scope or DMM during commanded operation before considering module replacement.
