1984 Mercury Capri

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1984 Capri.

The 1984 Mercury Capri is the model-year variant documented here with a 4.0-quart engine-oil capacity and recommended viscosities of 5W-30, 10W-30, or 10W-40. Because the available model complaint history covers only 1991 through 1994, the 1984 edition sits outside the recorded reliability window and carries no direct complaint tally. That later dataset does show a steep decline from a high of 40 complaints in 1991 down to just 3 in 1994, but those figures belong to subsequent production years, so researchers should treat the 1984 Capri as a pre-period specimen rather than part of that trend.
