Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1983 Capri.
This reference page centers on the 1983 Mercury Capri, a vehicle whose routine engine service is specified as a 4.0-quart oil fill with a viscosity choice of 5W-30, 10W-30, or 10W-40. Those lubrication specs are the concrete maintenance anchors for researchers working on this model year. The available complaint history, however, covers 1991 through 1994 rather than 1983, peaking at 40 complaints in 1991 and falling to a low of 3 in 1994. Because the 1983 model sits before that documented reliability window, its dependability picture must be built from service data and period records rather than from complaint-volume trends.
