On drive-by-wire vehicles, the accelerator pedal assembly contains redundant position sensors (often labeled A and B), and this code specifically points to the loss of the B signal on the data bus. It is a communication/electrical fault, not a mechanical throttle-body issue.

What causes it — most likely first

1. Failed Throttle Pedal Position Sensor (B signal)

The most common cause. The internal potentiometer or Hall-effect element for the B channel wears out or fails open/short, and the PCM no longer sees a valid signal on the network.

2. Damaged, chafed, or broken wiring to the pedal sensor

The harness running from the accelerator pedal to the PCM is frequently stressed by foot movement and can develop intermittent opens, shorts to ground, or shorts to voltage that drop the B signal.

3. Corroded, loose, or backed-out connector at the pedal assembly

Mo intrusion, bent pins, or a partially seated connector at the pedal position sensor is a well-known source of intermittent communication loss for this code.

4. Poor power supply or ground to the sensor

A corroded ground point, shared ground with high-resistance, or a loss of the 5-volt reference feed will cause the B signal to drop out and trigger U0607.

5. Network/bus interference on the sensor's communication line

If the B sensor reports over a dedicated sub-bus or analog line shared with other inputs, a short to another circuit can knock out communication without setting a sensor range code.

6. PCM/ECM internal fault (rare)

The control module itself can fail to receive or process the B signal, but this is uncommon and should only be considered after the sensor, wiring, connectors, and grounds have all been ruled out.

How it's diagnosed

  1. Scan all modules and record every related U-code, P-code, and freeze-frame data to confirm which sensor circuit is actually lost.
  2. Visually inspect the accelerator pedal connector and the harness from the pedal to the PCM for chafing, pin damage, corrosion, or moisture.
  3. With the ignition on, use a scan tool to view live TPPS A and B voltages or percentages; a stuck-at value, dropout, or no reading on B confirms the fault location.
  4. Backprobe the sensor connector to verify proper 5-volt reference, signal return, and ground at the B circuit while wiggling the harness.
  5. Perform a voltage-drop test on the sensor's ground and power circuits to rule out high-resistance connections.
  6. If wiring, power, ground, and the sensor itself all check good, re-evaluate the PCM only as a last resort and verify with manufacturer-specific guided fault trees before replacement.
