P2563 indicates the powertrain control module has detected an implausible or out-of-range signal from the turbocharger boost-control position sensor, which reports the position of the variable-geometry vane actuator or electronic wastegate actuator. The code is set when the sensor reading does not match the commanded position or falls outside expected electrical limits. In practice, the problem is almost always the sensor, actuator, or wiring rather than the control module.

  4. Command the actuator through its full range with a scan tool and check for smooth, complete travel; look for binding, hesitation, or abnormal noise.
  5. Perform continuity, resistance, and short-to-ground tests on the sensor circuit; consider PCM replacement only if every mechanical and electrical cause has been eliminated.
