Upstream exhaust gas temperature sensors or wideband oxygen sensors that read incorrectly can prevent the PCM from maintaining the heat needed for regeneration.

5. Fuel system or dosing issue for regeneration

Faulty post-injection, hydrocarbon doser, or fuel pressure issues can prevent the exhaust from reaching regeneration temperature.

6. PCM software or control module fault

A PCM calibration issue or internal module failure is rare and should only be considered after all sensors, exhaust components, and fuel system inputs are verified.

  3. Compare live differential pressure readings at idle and higher RPM against specification for the filter's known soot load.
  4. Verify exhaust gas temperature sensors upstream and downstream of the DPF read plausibly during a commanded regeneration.
