  3. Measure fuel system pressure at the fuel rail with a gauge; compare to manufacturer specs. Also check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line for leaks.
  4. Examine the MAF sensor: look for contamination, check its signal with a multimeter or scan tool, and clean or replace as needed.
  5. Test the Bank 2 upstream O2 sensor: monitor its voltage oscillations, heater resistance, and response time. A sluggish or stuck sensor can trigger a false lean code.
  6. If the above steps don’t reveal the problem, check the EGR valve operation (mechanical and electrical) and verify that it seats properly when closed.
