This code indicates that the evaporative emission control (EVAP) system cannot relieve a vacuum that has built up inside the fuel tank. The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors a fuel tank pressure sensor and expects the tank to be able to equalize pressure through the vent valve or purge path; when it cannot, this code sets.
The vent valve is normally open and allows fresh air into the tank so vacuum does not build. If it sticks closed or its filter is blocked, the tank cannot bleed up vacuum, which is the most common cause of P1450.
Debris, mud, insect nests, or a kinked hose at the vent valve or canister can prevent air from entering the tank during purge operation.
If the pressure sensor reports an inaccurate vacuum reading, the PCM may set P1450 even though the tank is actually venting normally.
