P0107 indicates that the engine computer has detected an abnormally low voltage signal from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. This means the circuit is reporting lower pressure than physically possible or expected, which usually points to an electrical failure rather than an actual engine pressure condition.
The internal electronics of the sensor can fail, resulting in a continuously low or zero voltage output signal.
The signal wire or 5-volt reference wire may be chafed or shorted to the chassis ground, pulling the voltage down to near zero.
Corroded, pushed-back, or loose terminals in the MAP sensor connector can cause a high resistance or open circuit, dropping the signal voltage.
If the sensor lacks the necessary 5-volt supply or a good ground path due to a broken wire, it cannot generate the correct signal voltage.
Extremely rare, but an internal failure in the engine computer could misinterpret the voltage or fail to supply the reference voltage.
It is not recommended. The engine may run poorly, stall, or consume excess fuel, which could potentially damage the catalytic converter over time.
Not typically. A vacuum leak usually causes high manifold pressure (low vacuum), which results in a higher voltage signal and a P0108 code. P0107 is specifically a low voltage condition, almost always indicating an electrical or sensor failure.
Rarely. Many drivers are told to replace the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), but the problem is almost always a failed MAP sensor, a wiring issue, or a bad connection. The PCM should be the absolute last component tested and replaced.
