C0648 is a chassis diagnostic code indicating the left brake pressure sensor signal is outside its expected operating range or not performing correctly. The brake pressure sensor monitors hydraulic brake system pressure for the anti-lock braking (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC) systems. When the sensor voltage or signal does not match manufacturer specifications, this code sets and may illuminate related warning lights.

6. PCM/ECM fault

How it's diagnosed

  1. Connect a scan tool and retrieve all stored diagnostic codes, noting any related ABS, wheel speed, or brake pressure codes
  2. Inspect brake fluid level and condition; top off or flush if necessary
  3. Perform a visual inspection of the left brake pressure sensor and its connector for damage, corrosion, or loose connections
  4. Check wiring harness for chafing, cuts, or corrosion especially near wheel wells and suspension components
  5. Test the brake pressure sensor voltage output using a multimeter while a helper presses the brake pedal
