1982 Pontiac Phoenix

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1982 Phoenix.

Engine Electric

The 1982 Pontiac Phoenix Electric stands out within the Phoenix nameplate by replacing the conventional internal combustion setup with a fully electric powertrain, a configuration that set it apart from the model's mainstream offerings. Positioned at the experimental end of the lineup, this model year offers limited long-term reliability data and is best understood as a specialty entry rather than a benchmark of proven dependability. For researchers, the vehicle serves as a case study in early electric adaptation of an established platform, where the value lies in documenting the engineering choice rather than chronicling years of service. Its place in the Phoenix's history is therefore defined by its novelty and limited production context, not by a track record of durability.
