1982 Pontiac Bonneville

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1982 Bonneville.

The 1982 Pontiac Bonneville is characterized by a minimal record of reported issues, consisting of a single recall and one owner complaint centered on the engine and engine cooling. This low volume is stark when contrasted with the model's later history from 1990 to 2005, where complaints peaked at 299 in 1998 and reached a low of 27 in 2005. Positioned against these figures, the 1982 model represents a period of significantly lower reported instability than its later iterations.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

The 1982 Pontiac Bonneville is not included in the provided federal record dataset, which begins in 1990—eight years after the target model year. The data covers a subsequent generation of the Bonneville (1990-2005), making direct comparison impossible. Since the target year falls outside the provided timeframe, I cannot identify where 1982 sits within any complaint or recall trend, nor can I assess its relative reliability against adjacent model years. The single engine-related complaint filed for 1982 (per the target year top complaint areas) cannot be contextualized without corresponding data from surrounding years. **This is not a good year to buy based on this analysis, because the necessary data does not exist in the record provided to evaluate the 1982 model year.**
