Body PASSENGER CAR

The 2016 Infiniti Q70 is a passenger car positioned within the model's 20142019 generation, a span that saw owner complaints peak at ten in 2015 before settling to just three for this model year. The single recall and the visibility/wiper area as the top complaint category suggest the issues that do surface are relatively contained rather than systemic. With only three total owner complaints logged, the 2016 sits on the lower end of the model's complaint history—closer to the 2014 low of one than the 2015 high of ten—indicating that this year represents a reliability improvement over the prior model year rather than a continuation of its troubles.

Factory maintenance schedule OEM · verified

Normal service, condensed from the factory interval matrix.

Under the factory schedule, replace the engine oil and filter every 5,000 mi; spark plugs at 105,000 mi; coolant at 105,000 mi. The big-interval services (at 105,000 mi for coolant, and the transmission fluid) are the ones owners most often skip — on a lower-mileage example, assume the original fluids are still in it and check them first.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

Across the 2014-2019 Infiniti Q70 generation, federal records show a notable spike in complaints and technical service bulletins (TSBs) in 2015—with 10 complaints and 150 TSBs—before declining and stabilizing in subsequent years. The 2016 model year sits right at this stabilization point, dropping to just 3 complaints and 128 TSBs, while matching the surrounding 2015-2018 years with a single recall and zero investigations. Its top complaint areas are evenly split with one each for Visibility/Wiper, Air Bags, and Steering/Service Brakes, and the data does not specify the root causes for these isolated issues. Crucially, the 2016 Q70 registers zero crash and zero fire complaints. Because it follows the peak complaint year and precedes a steady, low-complaint plateau, the 2016 Q70 is a strong used buy that likely benefits from early-generation growing pains having been resolved.
