Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 2011 Odyssey.
The 2011 Honda Odyssey is a minivan built around an automatic five-speed transmission, EPA-rated at 18 city, 27 highway, and 21 combined mpg, and using 4.5 quarts of 0W-20 API oil. It draws 232 owner complaints — concentrated in the electrical system — alongside five recalls, a footprint that reads as relatively contained against the model's 1990–2026 record, which peaks at 972 complaints in model year 2002 and bottoms at a single complaint in 1994. Placed against that three-decade arc, 2011 sits in the quieter middle of the Odyssey's reliability history, neither its weakest year nor a clean-sheet benchmark, and worth weighing carefully when researching the model as a whole.

From the factory this vehicle uses a BCI 24F · 550 CCA battery. Each part links to every other vehicle that shares it, so a part you already stock may fit more of your fleet than you'd expect.

This engine holds 4.5 qt of 0W-20 API engine oil. Torque lug nuts to 94 ft-lbs, the oil drain plug to 30.0 ft-lbs. The firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6. Note the cylinder-head bolts finish on a torque angle (torque-to-yield) — they stretch permanently and should be replaced, not reused, during any head service.

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.
The 2011 Honda Odyssey launched the fourth generation, and its federal record reflects the typical sorting-out of a new design. Compared to the final years of the third generation (2009–2010), the 2011 model saw a similar complaint volume (232 vs. 198–254) but a jump in recalls (5 vs. 2–4) and a near doubling of technical service bulletins (124 vs. 58–62), a trend that continued through 2016 before a sharp decline in 2017. The top complaint areas for 2011 were electrical system (52), service brakes (28), structure (16), and engine (14), though the data does not specify root causes. With 11 crash-related and 2 fire-related complaints, the 2011 Odyssey sits in the middle of the generation’s reliability arc—not as troubled as later peak years, but lacking the refinement of the 2017 model. For a used purchase, a 2011 example can be acceptable if a thorough pre-purchase inspection confirms that the common electrical and brake concerns have been addressed, but a later fourth-generation year may offer fewer initial-quality issues.
