1978 Honda Civic

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1978 Civic.

The 1978 Honda Civic appears in the model’s historical record, though its production year precedes the complaint data that begins in 1990. In that earliest recorded year, 1990, the Civic experienced only 102 complaints — the lowest figure in the dataset — while later peaks such as 1,402 complaints in 2006 illustrate how complaint volume has varied over time. Consequently, the 1978 model year sits at the foundation of a lineage that would later demonstrate both low and high points in reliability reporting.
