Inspection Procedure (Lower) — tightening sequence 1 stages
1Check the ball joint and boot for any damage. Step 3: Measure the ball joint deflection with a dial indicator that has a flexible arm by attaching between the lower control arm and wheel knuckle or ball joint stud. Dial indicator should be aligned as close as possible to the center line of the lower ball joint. Step 4: Push up and down on the wheel and tire assembly by hand until reading is on indicator. Step 5: Replace the ball joint if dial indicator readings exceed specifications.

Factory maintenance schedule OEM · verified

Normal service, condensed from the factory interval matrix.

Under the factory schedule, replace the spark plugs every 100,000 mi; coolant at 200,000 mi. The big-interval services (at 200,000 mi for coolant, and the transmission fluid) are the ones owners most often skip — on a lower-mileage example, assume the original fluids are still in it and check them first.
