1977 Ford E-150 Econoline

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1977 E-150 Econoline.

The 1977 Ford E-150 Econoline appears in the reliability record as a lightly documented model year, with only three owner complaints on file and the leading complaint area listed as "Unknown or Other," set against six recalls. That imbalance—more recall campaigns than owner-reported problems—means the surviving data says less about recurring mechanical faults than about the limited feedback sample available to researchers today. For the model's reliability history, 1977 therefore reads as a sparse-data year, useful mainly as a baseline that invites deeper archival or owner-source review before drawing any firm conclusions.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

Owner complaints about the 1977 Ford E-150 Econoline dominate in one area — the unknown or other, 1 of 3 reports (33%), well ahead of the next concern. None of this vehicle's 6 recall campaigns target the unknown or other, so those reports read as owner-reported wear-and-tear rather than an acknowledged defect. 0 of the reports describe a crash and 0 a fire — a small share of the total, but worth weighing against the unknown or other pattern above. These are tallies of what owners actually reported to the federal government, not an editorial score — and higher-selling models naturally rack up more reports.
