Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

The 1994 Ford Aspire opens the recorded generation with 61 complaints, two recalls, one investigation, and 47 TSBs, making it the only model year in this data set to carry recalls while posting lower complaint volume than the 1995 and 1997 model years. Against the subsequent trend that peaks at 100 complaints in 1995 before dipping to 54 in 1996 and rebounding to 82 in 1997, the 1994 model sits near the lower end of the generational arc, accompanied by 18 crash complaints and 2 fire complaints whose root causes the data does not specify. TSBs climb steadily across the generation from 47 in 1994 to 78 in 1995–1996 and 83 in 1997, indicating expanding service documentation as the line matured, while investigations remain constant at one per year throughout. Air Bags dominate the 1994 complaint profile with 17 filings, though the federal record does not identify a specific defect or cause within that category. Because the 1994 model generated fewer complaints than two of the three later years and is the sole year in this record with manufacturer recall activity, it offers a comparatively moderate risk profile for this generation, provided a buyer confirms the two recalls are closed.
