1982 Chevrolet G30

Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1982 G30.

The 1982 Chevrolet G30 is a full-size van produced on GM's platform, and according to the limited owner complaint data available, this model year recorded just one total complaint with a single recall, placing it among the more reliable entries in the G30's complaint history; the model's complaint trajectory over the 1990-2002 period shows a peak of 26 complaints in 1995 and a low of just 1 complaint by 2002, indicating that while later model years demonstrated improved reliability, the 1982 model already reflected the van's generally solid reputation with tires being the primary complaint area noted by owners.

Reliability & federal safety record

Owner-reported issues, recalls, investigations and service bulletins on record with NHTSA — an unfiltered look at what owners actually experience.

The federal record supplied begins in 1990, so there are no complaint, recall, investigation, or TSB figures for the 1982 model year or the years immediately preceding it. From 1990 onward, complaints start low (5 in 1990) and generally increase, peaking at 26 in 1995 before declining to single‑digit levels by the late 1990s. Recall counts vary year‑to‑year without a clear monotonic pattern, ranging from 0 to 6, while TSBs remain negligible until the late 1990s and then rise sharply, reaching 57 in 2001 and 63 in 2002. Because the target year falls outside the documented interval, the data do not specify whether its complaint or recall experience was better, worse, or similar to the surrounding years. Consequently, there is insufficient evidence to determine if the 1982 Chevrolet G30 is a good year to buy based on federal complaint and recall records.
