Factory specifications, fluid capacities, torque values, EPA fuel economy and the federal safety record for the 1976 Caprice.
The 1976 Chevrolet Caprice occupies a position within the model lineage that predates the formal complaint tracking period spanning 1990 to 2011, a later-era dataset that recorded a high of 196 complaints in 1994 and a low of just one in 2003. While specific body, platform, and engine configurations define this model year, its absence from the 1990–2011 reliability records places it outside the documented complaint trajectory that peaked at 196 incidents in 1994 and troughed at a single report in 2003. Consequently, researchers examining this vehicle must rely on sources other than the model complaint history—which captures the nameplate at its most documented problematic in 1994 and its most trouble-free in 2003—to assess its standing.
